IDC: Q3 2026 PC Shipments Drop 20.1% to 62.7 Million Units

Worldwide PC shipments fell to 62.7 million units in Q3 2026, a 20.1 percent year-over-year decline that IDC attributes to supply issues and high prices.

Worldwide PC shipments totaled 62.7 million units in the third quarter of 2026, IDC reported, a 20.1 percent drop from the same quarter a year earlier and a 9.1 percent decline from Q2 2026.

The research firm attributed the fall to supply issues and elevated prices, which it said are weighing on demand across the market.

Jitesh Ubrani of IDC said channels are concerned about carrying too much inventory into a market where high prices are suppressing demand.

IDC added that pricing will remain elevated and that the outlook could worsen before it improves.

Earlier signals

The decline follows a warning sign in July 2026, when IDC reported the PC market's first shipment decline in nine quarters. A few months before that, the firm had cut its forecast for the PC market for all of 2026.
