I-O Data adds multi-factor login to LAN DISK Z NAS

The Windows-based NAS series now supports authenticator apps and a front-panel button check for Remote Desktop logins, I-O Data said.

I-O Data announced on October 21, 2026, that its Windows-based LAN DISK Z NAS series now supports multi-factor authentication and One-Touch Secure, two features intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized remote logins.

The features are available on models running Windows Server IoT 2025 and Windows Server IoT 2022, according to internet.watch.impress.co.jp.

How the two features work

With multi-factor authentication enabled, a Remote Desktop login requires a one-time code from an authenticator app in addition to the username and password. The supported apps are Google Authenticator for Android and iOS, Microsoft Authenticator for Android and iOS, and WinAuth for Windows.

One-Touch Secure adds a physical check: the button on the front of the unit must be pressed before a Remote Desktop login is permitted.
