iOS 27.2 Beta 4 Adds Messages Suggestion Toggles, Lock Screen Changes

Apple's latest iOS 27.2 beta adds granular controls for Messages suggestions, new Home app smart lock options, and a black-and-white Apple Music icon.

Apple has released iOS 27.2 beta 4, which introduces a new Settings section for controlling Messages suggestions, according to 9to5mac.com. The option appears under Settings ⇾ Apps ⇾ Messages ⇾ Suggested Actions and provides individual toggles for five suggestion types: Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show in Maps, and Flights and Packages.

The same beta cycle also brings two new features to the Home app for compatible smart locks. A "Lock After Closing" setting lets users control how quickly a door automatically locks once it has been closed. Separately, a "Door Left Open" notification option offers choices of Off or alerts after 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes.

Apple Music also sees visual changes in beta 4. The app icon has been changed to black and white, red backgrounds have been removed from widgets, and the active tab accent color has switched from red to blue.

The Messages Suggestions feature was originally intended for iOS 27.0 but was pulled from the summer beta before appearing in the iOS 27.2 testing cycle.

Apple recently announced several Apple Home updates, including HomeView, a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, and an Apple Home collection.
