Jaguar Type 01 debuts as four-door electric GT
The Type 01, Jaguar's first model from its relaunch, is a four-door electric GT without a Rear Window, using a central camera instead.
Jaguar unveiled the Type 01, a four-door electric GT and the first model to arrive from the brand's relaunch, on October 10, 2026, according to Ars Technica.
The Type 01 is an iteration of the Type 00 coupe concept design, reworked with four doors instead of two and fitted with street-legal reflectors. It has no Rear Window, relying instead on central rear-view camera technology that Jaguar describes as proven.
The car is built on JEA, the all-electric platform Jaguar developed to underpin an all-electric product line.
Long road back to an EV lineup
Jaguar entered the modern EV market in 2017 with the I-Pace. An all-electric sedan planned to follow it was canceled a year before its showroom debut. In 2024, Jaguar boss Rawdon Glover said the brand was aiming for an elevated ownership experience and a starting price about double the previous $60,000 entry point. Last year, Jaguar began teasing the relaunch, and images of the Type 00 coupe concept leaked.
