Kakao Launches Kakao Membership at 4,900 Won a Month

Kakao launched Kakao Membership, its first integrated subscription service, on the 1st of this month at 4,900 won per month, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
The bundle covers Gift, Talk Deal, KakaoPay, Melon, KakaoPage, emoticons, Talk Cloud, KakaoPay Securities and KakaoPay Insurance. It is the first time the company has packaged these services into a single paid plan.
Kakao is also connecting external services into KakaoTalk's AI, including Olive Young, Musinsa, Hyundai Department Store and MyRealTrip. The company aims to secure 10 million monthly active users for AI services within KakaoTalk by the end of the year.

In October last year, Kakao launched ChatGPT for Kakao, usable inside KakaoTalk with KakaoTools connecting Kakao Map, booking, Gift and Melon. In the second quarter of this year, Kakao's platform division revenue was 1.2303 trillion won, up 17% year-on-year, while Talk Biz revenue was 643.2 billion won, up 12%. In August, Kakao decided to split into KakaoAI, handling AI, advertising and commerce centred on KakaoTalk, and KakaoX, handling affiliates management and investment.
