LG Electronics, K-water Sign MOU for AI Tidal Power Plant at Sihwa Lake

LG Electronics announced on October 22, 2026 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with K-water for technology cooperation on an AI tidal power plant at Sihwa Lake, according to techm.kr. The agreement covers the AI tidal power plant and lighthouse factory implementation, the application of AI, digital twin and robot technologies, renewable energy and AI transition R&D, and joint overseas business development.

The AI for the project will use LG AI Research Institute's Exaone, with a tidal-power-plant-specific AI agent to be developed, along with physical AI using robots and AI CCTV.

The MOU was announced alongside LG Electronics' display at HARFKO 2026, the HVAC exhibition held at KINTEX in Goyang from October 21 to 23. At the show, the company unveiled the LG Multi V 7, a next-generation large-capacity system air conditioner that uses dual AI combining on-device and cloud AI, and features LG's Spin-X compressor and a two-way oil supply structure. LG Electronics also exhibited AIDC cooling solutions at the event.

The company separately launched the LG PuriCare HydroTower Max, a premium humidifier and air purifier with combined water purification and humidification and AI space-customized humidification. It offers up to 850cc per hour, a 4.5-liter tank and up to 18 hours of continuous humidification, at a list price of 2.39 million won.

LG Electronics' smart factory solutions business surpassed 1 trillion won in cumulative orders as of the first half of 2026. On October 19, 2026, LG began business report meetings for all affiliates, chaired by LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, to review this year's results and next year's plans including AI growth strategies.
