Lucid Motors builds 2,954 EVs in Q3, down 54% year over year
The third-quarter figure is Lucid's lowest quarterly output in nearly two years and its third straight quarter of declining EV production, according to TechCrunch.
Lucid Motors built 2,954 electric vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, a 54% drop from a year earlier — the company's lowest quarterly output in nearly two years, according to TechCrunch.
The figure marks the third straight quarter of declining EV production for Lucid. The company delivered 3,806 EVs during the same quarter.
New CEO Silvio Napoli has led an effort to simplify the company, including laying off around 1,500 employees and eliminating a second shift at its Arizona factory. On Lucid's second-quarter earnings call in August, Napoli said the company had not executed consistently and missed commitments.
Lucid also delayed the release of its third EV, the Cosmos, which was planned to start under $50,000.
Background
In the first quarter of 2025, Lucid started production of its second EV, the Gravity SUV. In five of the last six quarters, the company built more vehicles than it delivered. In 2021, Lucid merged with a special purpose acquisition company, raised $4 billion, and estimated it would ship as many as 90,000 EVs in 2024.
In the third quarter of 2025, Lucid delivered about 4,006 EVs. Rival EV upstart Rivian recently posted its best quarter in history on the back of the R2, its new, more affordable SUV, after shipping 12,194 vehicles in the second quarter.
