Mentat Launches Book Data Search Console for AI Firms

Mentat's Discovery Console lets AI companies search roughly 8 billion tokens of licensed book data and check costs before signing contracts.

Mentat launched the Mentat Discovery Console, a book-data search service aimed at AI companies, on the 13th, according to datanet.co.kr.

The console allows AI companies to search book data, review its scale and cost, and move directly to contracts. Book data is presented in tokens and cost terms rather than by number of titles.

Main features include content-based category classification, token-level data scale display, expected cost checks, and detailed catalog requests with contract linkage. The total book data searchable in the console is about 8 billion tokens.

Licensed book data is delivered as training datasets and as a reference and citation API. Training datasets include bibliographic information such as title, author, publisher and ISBN, and are provided in file formats such as JSONL.

Background

Mentat is a book licensing platform connecting publishers and AI companies to support AI training on and citation of book content. Since its founding in 2025, it has signed license contracts with about 90 domestic publishers covering about 34,000 book titles.
