Meta acquires AI data analysis platform Sundial

Sundial's co-founders, both former Meta employees, will rejoin the company and its team will staff a newly formed data analysis organization.

Meta has acquired Sundial, an AI-based data analysis platform, a Meta spokesperson confirmed. Axios reported the acquisition on October 23.

Sundial was founded by co-founders Julie Joo and Chandra Narayanado, who previously worked at Meta. Both will rejoin the company along with the rest of the Sundial team, which will be placed into a newly formed data analysis organization at Meta.

That organization is tasked with finding questions the company has not yet asked and with testing and improving data and AI products.

Sundial will stop serving external customers once the acquisition is completed.

The platform turns natural-language questions into usable information from complex data, allowing departments to analyze data without going through a dedicated data team.
