Meta's Muse hits 10.9M downloads in first 40 days
Sensor Tower says 10.2 million of those downloads came in the U.S., a milestone only 11 other apps have reached in their first 40 days.
Meta's AI app Muse recorded 10.9 million downloads in the first 40 days after its September debut, including 10.2 million in the United States, according to Sensor Tower data reported by TechCrunch.
Sensor Tower said only 11 other apps have previously reached 10 million U.S. downloads within their first 40 days. By comparison, ChatGPT saw 3.7 million U.S. downloads in its first 40 days, while Grok recorded 500,000 and Claude 200,000.
Muse has been available only in the U.S. and Canada and held the No. 1 spot on the U.S. App Store every day in the period except October 19, when the streaming app Kick briefly took the top ranking. Daily active users reached 2.5 million for the first time on October 16, a 15% week-over-week increase.
Meta put 39% of its total advertising spend behind marketing Muse in October, up from 23% in September, and the app ranked as the 21st largest U.S. brand by advertising impressions in October, rising from 73rd the previous month.
Retention figures were also ahead of rivals: Muse had a 30% U.S. 7-day retention rate and a 23% 14-day rate, against an average of 19% and 16% for ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.
The last app to clear the 10 million U.S. downloads mark in 40 days was Meta's own Threads, in July 2023, which was built on Instagram's social graph and later integrated into Facebook and Instagram.
