Meta's Muse AI hits 5M downloads, fastest to milestone

Meta's AI assistant Muse has crossed 5 million downloads, according to estimates from Sensor Tower. The app reached the milestone faster than ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude, which took 56, 103, and 492 days respectively.

Muse has held the top spot on the US App Store for 12 consecutive days. Meta began ramping advertising spend for Muse on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with downloads spiking 73% day-over-day.

Over the past two weeks (9/14–9/27), Muse has received up to 50% of Meta's daily house ad impressions. During the week of September 21 through September 27, it ranked among the top 15 brands by advertising impressions in the US.

Only 23 apps have reached over 5 million US downloads within 22 days of launch, according to Sensor Tower. Meta launched Muse in the US three weeks ago, and it is available on iOS and Android but only in the US and Canada. Soon after launch, Muse overtook ChatGPT as the top free app in the US App Store.
