Mitsubishi Unveils ASX VR-e Electric SUV With 459 hp
Mitsubishi's ASX VR-e, built with Foxconn affiliate Foxtron and produced by Luxgen, will be sold in Australia and New Zealand.
Mitsubishi has unveiled the ASX VR-e, a high-performance electric SUV with a maximum output of 459 horsepower and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds. The vehicle will launch in the Australian market, with supply also planned for New Zealand, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
The top GSR trim uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with one electric motor on the front axle and one on the rear. It produces a combined 342 kW (about 459 horsepower) and 700 Nm of torque, and is equipped with a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Fast charging is supported at up to 134 kW.
The LS, Aspire and Exceed trims use a single electric motor with 171 kW output and 350 Nm torque, rear-wheel drive, and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds.
The ASX VR-e was developed in cooperation with Foxtron, an automotive company affiliated with Taiwan's Foxconn, and its body is based on the Foxtron Bria designed by Italian design firm Pininfarina. Production will be handled by Taiwanese automaker Luxgen rather than by Mitsubishi itself.
Australian pricing and official range figures for the ASX VR-e have not yet been disclosed, and no North American launch plans have been confirmed.
Earlier high-performance Mitsubishi
The ASX VR-e arrives as Mitsubishi expands cooperation with external companies for EVs beyond its own developed electric vehicles. The company previously produced a UK-only limited edition Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR with 440 horsepower.
