Nvidia Unveils Smaller, Faster DLSS 5 Model as Hogwarts Legacy Support Nears

Nvidia says its new DLSS 5 model cuts VRAM use by 20% at 4K and boosts frame rates in supported titles, with Hogwarts Legacy joining on November 5.

Nvidia has announced a new DLSS 5 model that is twice as fast as the version first shown in March 2026 at GTC, according to wccftech.com. The model uses 24% fewer parameters and is 118 million parameters in size.

The company says VRAM usage at 4K drops by 20% with the new model. In DLSS 5 titles such as NBA 2K27, frame rates rise from 65 FPS to 90 FPS at 4K, an improvement of more than 30%.

Hogwarts Legacy will receive official DLSS 5 support on November 5, 2026. The same update adds DLSS Neural Rendering to the game alongside upgraded DLSS technologies. Avalanche Software used DLSS 5 SDK controls to tune the integration so the game's artistic intent and style are maintained.

Where Winds Meet will get its official DLSS 5 update in late November. The game currently supports DLSS Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution, with DLSS 3D-Guided Neural Rendering support to be introduced soon.

Nvidia also plans to bring DLSS 5 to RTX 40 GPUs. DLSS 5 was first unveiled in March 2026 at GTC, and launched alongside NBA 2K27 in September 2026 as its release title.
