Nvidia partner says it cannot buy GB202 and 32 GB GDDR7 as a set for RTX 5090
A board partner also told Der8auer that backorders with Nvidia are not currently possible for RTX 5090 parts, while Nvidia says shipping continues.
An unnamed Nvidia add-in board partner has told YouTuber Der8auer that it cannot currently buy the GB202 GPU together with 32 GB of GDDR7 as a complete set, the component bundle needed to build GeForce RTX 5090 cards. The partner also said backorders with Nvidia, which were possible during earlier shortages, are currently not possible for RTX 5090 parts, according to pcgamer.com.
The board partner said Nvidia has not told it that the RTX 5090 is end-of-life. Nvidia, for its part, says it will continue to ship the card and acknowledges that limited supply chain capacity has made output somewhat constrained.
Cooler orders point to lower Q1 2027 forecasts
A maker of RTX 5090 coolers told Der8auer that two partners heavily reduced their order forecasts for RTX 5090-based heatsinks for Q1 2027 compared with Q3 2026. The same cooler maker said it had received no RTX 5090 heatsink orders from partners for Q2 2027 as of now.
The accounts describe pressure on supply rather than a formal end to the product. Nvidia's position is that the card remains on sale, while partners describe difficulty assembling the full component set and a pullback in cooler planning for next year.
In September, the RTX 5090 was rumoured to be discontinued when it disappeared from Nvidia's official marketplace, and Nvidia confirmed at the time that it was not discontinued. The card's previous MSRP was $2,000.
