Omnissa unveils Elara to govern AI use across enterprises

Omnissa Elara links signals from separate systems so IT and security teams can track AI apps, models and agents, and spot unapproved tools.

Omnissa announced Omnissa Elara, an AI governance and work-control solution, on October 20. The product is designed to assess and control risk before AI-driven tasks are carried out across a company’s systems.

Elara pulls together signals from multiple separately operated systems, giving IT and security leaders a view of how AI applications, models and agents are used inside an organization. According to datanet.co.kr, the platform also identifies Shadow AI by detecting AI applications, LLMs, AI agents and other tools in use, including those that are not on approved lists.

A companion component, Omnissa AI Gateway, manages access to AI models for users, applications and agents, and applies controls based on usage policy. Elara additionally measures token usage across multiple AI model providers, an arrangement intended to keep companies from being locked into a single model ecosystem.

The release includes change management features that check for conflicts with other changes, freeze periods and cross-system dependencies before a task runs. Elara also records the decision process behind AI and user tasks — including who approved them and which systems or resources were affected — for audit purposes.

Brian Link, product lead for Omnissa Elara, said companies want to adopt AI without losing control of what happens across their environment. Adam Holtby, a senior analyst at Omdia, said governance becomes essential as agentic AI performs real work across enterprise systems.

Earlier research on unapproved tools

Omnissa research conducted before the launch found unapproved AI tools on 75% of corporate-managed devices, according to datanet.co.kr.
