OpenAI doubles usage limits on Pro and Business Premium plans

OpenAI doubled the usage limits for its Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 plans and for Business Premium, effective 29 October 2026, according to aitimes.com. The increased allowance applies mainly to ChatGPT Work and Codex, and existing subscribers receive it automatically at no extra cost.

OpenAI also scrapped its previously announced plan to cut usage on the 200-dollar Pro plan and kept the higher limits in place. Users who had been on lower limits had their allowance doubled to the same level.

Not every limit moved. The weekly GPT-6 Pro message limit for ordinary ChatGPT chats is unchanged on Pro 100 and Pro 500, and Plus plan usage is unchanged. The usage allowance for the personal AI agent Dots is being kept for the time being and is counted separately from the standard ChatGPT allowance.

A campaign of daily updates

The change was the day-25 announcement of OpenAI's 28-day continuous update campaign, which began on 4 October 2026. On that date, OpenAI head of ChatGPT and Codex Tibo Sottiaux announced a run of daily Codex and Work improvements or usage-limit resets.

During the campaign, OpenAI raised the base processing speed of GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol by about 50 percent and provided several usage resets. It also released the cheaper work automation model GPT-6.1 Terra and added iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins and SMS features for Dots.

In September 2026, when OpenAI reopened new sign-ups, it announced a reduction in included usage and kept the old limits for existing subscribers until 29 October 2026.
