Oracle has sent a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter in New Mexico. According to TechCrunch, the legal notice allows Oracle to delay payments if the facility fails to meet its target of coming online in 2028.
The Project Jupiter campus is designed to handle 2.45 gigawatts of power and is intended to run on gas-powered fuel cells from Bloom Energy. However, an Energy Transfer pipeline delivering gas to the site has been delayed until February 1, 2027.
Additionally, a separate air-quality permit for the fuel cell system is currently pending with the state environment department, with a deadline of November 23. Project Jupiter is a key component of the Stargate AI infrastructure initiative involving Oracle, OpenAI, and SoftBank.
Despite the notice, Oracle stated that Project Jupiter remains on its planned schedule and that the company is fully committed to New Mexico. Blue Owl Capital also clarified that the force majeure notice does not change its financial commitments to the project.
