Orchestro survey finds 70% prioritize scalability for virtualization
62% of IT workers at companies and public institutions are considering, planning, or migrating their virtualization environments, with cost cited as the main reason.
Orchestro announced on October 16 the results of its September 'VMware Migration and Virtualization Operations Survey', conducted with 13,541 IT workers at companies and public institutions. In the survey, 70% of respondents chose 'infrastructure scalability' as the most important criterion for selecting a solution.
62% of all respondents said they were considering, planning, or in the process of migrating their virtualization environment. The main reason cited for considering migration was 'increased license and maintenance costs' at 57%.
For choosing scalability as the key criterion, 'expanding computing resources due to business growth' ranked highest at 65%, followed by 'securing flexibility in mid- to long-term infrastructure operations' at 46% and 'expansion to AI and cloud environments' at 41%.
In technical requirements, 'parallel operation of existing workloads and new workloads' received 68% and 'compatibility with existing server and storage environments' received 61%. For future infrastructure enhancement directions, 'integrated operation of multi-/hybrid cloud' was 42%, 'AI infrastructure and GPU operating environment' was 35%, and 'Kubernetes-based cloud native environment' was 31%.
In the April survey announced earlier, 'performance and stability' (37%) was chosen as the top consideration for virtualization infrastructure migration. Orchestro continues to develop server virtualization solution CONTRABASS, Kubernetes-based cloud native platform VIOLA, multi-/hybrid cloud management platform Orchestro CMP, and AI inference operation platform CONCERTO A.I.
