Paramount Skydance Closes Warner Bros. Discovery Deal, Plans Single Streamer

Paramount Skydance says HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ will eventually merge into one direct-to-consumer service.

Paramount Skydance said on October 10, 2026, that it has completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery and that all of its direct-to-consumer streaming services will unify into a single service over time, according to Ars Technica.

The company's streaming portfolio includes HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+, which would be folded into one direct-to-consumer offering under the plan.

Paramount Skydance did not give a timeline for the consolidation or say how the services would be combined.

How the portfolio was assembled

Discovery Inc. merged with WarnerMedia in 2022 to create Warner Bros. Discovery, and Discovery+ launched in 2021. Netflix announced plans last year to buy Warner Bros. Discovery but scrapped those plans in February. On October 1, The Hollywood Reporter published statements from HBO Max content chief Casey Bloys about the HBO Max-Disney bundle.
