Park24 to pay 3,000 yen to users hit by Times Car ID leak

The goodwill payment covers users whose encrypted driver's license and other ID images showed traces of external transmission.

Park24 said on October 23, 2026 that it will pay 3,000 yen in cash or vouchers as a goodwill payment to users affected by the data breach at its Times Car car-sharing service, according to watch.impress.co.jp.

The payment targets users whose encrypted ID document images, such as driver's licenses, showed traces of access and external transmission. Park24 said the specific details and delivery method are still under consideration.

The company put the number of ID document images with confirmed traces of external transmission at about 1.46 million, below the roughly 1.6 million it had previously feared. The fifth report on the unauthorized access also confirmed a breach of the Times Club web system.

Park24 said the images are encrypted and cannot be viewed immediately, but it cannot completely rule out future decryption.

Retention policy changed

Park24 has changed its policy so it no longer retains ID document images after membership registration is completed. It will delete the ID document image data it currently holds by the end of October.
