Pearson to Acquire AI Skills Platform Workera

Pearson announced on Sept. 29 that it has agreed to acquire Workera, an AI-native skills platform, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2026.

Once the acquisition is complete, Workera will become part of Pearson's Enterprise Learning & Skills business unit. Workera co-founder and CEO Kian Katanforoosh will join Pearson's leadership team after the deal closes.

Workera is used by organizations including ServiceNow, Accenture, and the United States Space Force, according to zdnet.com.

Skills intelligence push

Founded in 2019, Workera verifies employee capabilities through an AI-native platform. On Sept. 23, the company published its 2026 State of Skills Intelligence Report, which found that nearly 70% of workers use AI regularly while almost 60% have no time to upskill.

Workera's Ambient, an AI-native skills assessment tool, is currently being piloted and has more than 10,000 signups on its waitlist.
