Pimax Unveils Crystal Pro Wireless VR Headset With Optional 60 GHz Streaming Kit

Pimax announced a new wireless VR headset, the Crystal Pro, alongside a 60G AirLink wireless streaming kit, SLAM 2.0 inside-out tracking and a new pair of ringless controllers, according to pcgamer.com.

The Crystal Pro base model is priced at $1,399, or $1,899 when bundled with the 60G AirLink system. The 60G AirLink kit is also available separately for $599 and uses 60 GHz 2x2 MIMO. Every Crystal Pro includes a Wi-Fi 6E adapter in the box for connecting to a gaming PC.

The headset uses twin QLED displays running at 2880 x 2880 per eye at up to 120 Hz, with a Mini-LED backlight offering 576 local dimming zones per eye and 200 nits brightness. It also uses aspheric glass lenses and 120 Hz Omnivision eye tracking.

Pimax also announced SLAM 2.0 inside-out tracking, which combines four cameras, a motion sensor and infrared illuminators. The new ringless controllers add dual triggers on both sides, TMR sticks, grip sensing and face buttons.

Valve previously introduced foveated streaming with the Steam Frame, rendering high resolution only where the user is looking and lower resolution elsewhere. Pimax's existing Dream Air and Crystal Super headsets already offer Micro-OLED displays.
