September Pixel Drop Refines Pixel VIPs, Adds WhatsApp
Tapping a VIP contact in the widget now opens their information page directly, and WhatsApp joins Google Messages, Meet and Maps.
Google's September Pixel Drop update has changed how Pixel VIPs works on Pixel phones, adding WhatsApp as an integrated service and shortening the path to a contact's details.
Tapping a VIP contact in the widget now opens that contact's information page directly. Previously, the tap slid up a card from the bottom of the screen that had to be swiped again to show full details.
WhatsApp now sits alongside Google Messages, Meet and Maps among the services integrated with Pixel VIPs, according to howtogeek.com.
Pixel VIPs first appeared in the June 2025 Pixel Drop with basic functionality. At launch, the feature had little integration outside Google's own ecosystem.
