The company says the shift reflects how much social activity already happens on televisions. According to Plex, 59% of reactions and 47% of watchlist adds occur on the big screen.
The Android TV rollout follows the same feature set that arrived on Apple TV in mid-September 2026.
In a separate change, remote streaming from a Plex server will require a paid Plex license, even through third-party apps like Infuse. Firecore's Infuse is among the apps affected by that requirement.
