Raspberry Pi powers Fisher-Price DJ Table rebuild

A Reddit user has turned the Fisher-Price Mix & Learn DJ Table into an open-source music device with learning, music maker and Bluetooth modes.

A Reddit user known as LifeOnAFarm has shared an open-source project that rebuilds the Fisher-Price Mix & Learn DJ Table as a Raspberry Pi-powered music device called the Rave & Repeat DJ Table, according to xda-developers.com.

The build uses a Raspberry Pi W2 as the main processor, paired with a MAX98357A audio amplifier, an AS5600 sensor that reads the spinning platter, and an INMP441 microphone. The creator also designed a custom PCB the same size as the original board so the new components could be mounted inside the toy's shell.

The rebuilt table lets users upload their own song clips through a web interface and layer music tracks on top of one another. It can also work as a Bluetooth speaker.

Three modes are available — Learning, Music Maker and Bluetooth — and switching between them is done with a button press.

The project has its own dedicated website, and full open-source instructions, including PCB prints, are published on GitHub.
