Rivian Q3 production climbs 85% to 19,751 vehicles

Rivian produced 19,751 vehicles and delivered 19,248 in Q3, up 85% and 45% year over year, and reaffirmed 2026 guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 deliveries.

Rivian built 19,751 vehicles and delivered 19,248 in the third quarter, the company reported. Production rose 85 percent year over year, while deliveries rose 45 percent.

About 6,000 of those deliveries were R2 vehicles, a figure the company attributed to steady R1 and van deliveries alongside the new model. Rivian also reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicle deliveries.

The company said the R2 met its climate goal of cutting lifetime emissions by 50 percent, four years ahead of schedule.

A tougher market

The results land in a shrinking US electric vehicle market. In 2025, President Trump and Republicans in Congress eliminated the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. As of September 2026, overall EV sales were down nearly 24 percent year over year, according to Cox Automotive. Tesla, the market leader, reported a 2.1 percent decrease in Q3 sales.

Rivian has told investors it expects to sell upwards of 25,000 R2s in the model's first year of production. In the third quarter of last year, the company delivered over 13,000 vehicles. Earlier this year, CEO RJ Scaringe said the R2 is the most important thing the company has because it takes Rivian from being subscale to being a scaled manufacturer.
