Samsung Wallet Adds Digital Car Keys for Select GM Vehicles

Drivers in the US and Canada can lock, unlock and start certain Cadillac EVs with a key stored in Samsung Wallet, on Galaxy devices with UWB and BLE.

Samsung Wallet now supports digital car keys for select General Motors vehicles in the US and Canada, according to The Verge. The feature lets owners lock, unlock and start compatible GM vehicles using a digital key stored in the wallet app.

Support begins on certain Cadillac EVs: the 2025-2027 Lyriq, the 2026-2027 Optiq and the 2027 Vistiq. GM says more models will be added by the end of 2026.

The digital key requires a Samsung Galaxy device equipped with both ultra-wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Compatible hardware includes the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S21 through S26 Plus/Ultra models, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 through Z Fold 8 as well as the Z TriFold.

Availability beyond Samsung

Earlier this month, GM announced that digital keys would also be coming to a few GMC and Chevy trucks in December. GM noted the feature is not exclusive to Samsung Wallet and is also coming to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for compatible iPhones, Apple Watches and Pixel devices.
