Sigma's New 50-120mm F2.8 Completes Its APS-C Zoom Trinity

Sigma's 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary ships October 22 for Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF mounts at $799, and the 16-300mm is coming to Nikon Z.

Sigma has announced the 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary, a telephoto zoom for APS-C cameras that completes a trinity of f/2.8 zooms alongside the existing 10-18mm F2.8 and 18-50mm F2.8. The company also confirmed that its 16-300mm travel zoom is coming to Nikon Z mount, according to techradar.com.

The 50-120mm delivers an equivalent focal length of 75-180mm on APS-C bodies. It measures about 10cm / 4 inches long and weighs 13.4oz / 380g, keeping it portable for a constant-aperture telephoto.

Pricing is set at $799 / £699 (about AU$1,300). The lens goes on sale from October 22 in Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF versions.

A second mount option

Alongside the new telephoto, Sigma said its 16-300mm travel zoom will be offered in Nikon Z mount.

Sigma's earlier APS-C f/2.8 zooms, the 10-18mm F2.8 and 18-50mm F2.8, established the wide and standard ends of the range. For comparison, Fujifilm's XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR covers a similar telephoto span but is described as twice as hefty and pricier.
