Sigma unveils FP2 full-frame camera, sets November 11 launch

The FP2 adds phase-detection autofocus, a tilt monitor and a new battery, priced at 346,500 yen for the body alone.

Sigma announced the full-frame mirrorless camera Sigma FP2 on October 23, 2026, with sales set to begin on November 11, 2026, at a direct-sale price of 346,500 yen for the body alone, according to dc.watch.impress.co.jp.

The FP2 uses an approximately 24.5-megapixel 35mm full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor and adds phase-detection autofocus. Sigma says the new AF is 35% faster in bright conditions and 80% faster in low light than the contrast-detection AF of the fp. The body also gains a tilt-type rear monitor and a new battery type that Sigma says delivers 30% more shots per charge; it weighs 376g.

Video features include internal ProRes RAW recording, open gate mode, anamorphic desqueeze display, timelapse generation and 32-bit float audio recording. The camera also supports breathing correction with compatible Sigma, Panasonic and Leica L-mount lenses.

New CL lens line in development

Alongside the camera, Sigma announced development of the Sigma 50mm F1.4 CL DG | Contemporary, planned for release in early spring 2027 at an undecided price. It will come in L-mount and E-mount versions and joins the compact I series as the new CL line. The lens deliberately retains aberrations for soft rendering, uses a modified double-Gauss design with FLD glass and aspherical elements, and has a 14-blade aperture.

Accessory maker SmallRig will release a dedicated camera cage for the FP2 on the same day as the camera. Sigma president Kazuto Yamaki said there are no current plans for a higher-resolution version of the FP2. The fp, released in 2019, weighed 370g; Sigma later offered the higher-resolution fpL and the simpler BF.
