Spotify Expands Audiobooks to Over 180 Markets

More than 750 million users gain access as Spotify adds 350,000 titles in over 120 languages, working with 300-plus publishers.

Spotify announced on October 7, 2026 that it is expanding audiobook access to more than 180 markets worldwide, covering regions across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The rollout begins today and will continue over the coming months.

According to TechCrunch, the expansion will make audiobooks available to more than 750 million users. Spotify said it offers over 350,000 titles for the new markets and has grown its collection to include more than 120 languages, working with over 300 publishers worldwide, including Planeta and Mondadori.

In Spain, users will have access to more than 45,000 titles in Spanish. Premium subscribers can listen to 12 hours of audiobooks in eligible countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, Norway, and Peru, while the standalone Audiobook+ subscription provides a 15-hour allowance. Spotify is also adding an Audiobook+ add-on for student plans in select regions in November.

Audiobooks beyond English-speaking markets

Audiobooks were previously available primarily in English-speaking markets such as the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as in Germany. Since its launch last year, Audiobook+ has gained over 1 million subscribers and has generated more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue, Spotify said.

In February 2026, Spotify launched a Page Match feature that lets users scan a page of a physical book and find the corresponding point in the audiobook, with 1 million people using it monthly since launch. Over the last year, monthly listeners of audiobooks grew by 40% and listening hours increased by 30%, and Spotify introduced Audiobook Charts this year. The company also launched an AI-powered tool that lets authors turn their books into audiobooks using models from ElevenLabs, and has experimented with physical book sales through its audiobook platform in select markets including the U.S. and the U.K.
