Teradata unveils Tera AI products, pledges bigger Korea investment

The data platform company introduced the Tera Context Engine, Tera Harness and a natural-language agent interface, according to byline.network.

Teradata announced a set of new AI products on October 14, including the Tera Context Engine, Tera Harness and Tera, a natural-language interface presented as an agent colleague for enterprise data work, according to byline.network. The company also said it will significantly increase investment in its Korean subsidiary.

The Tera Context Engine is a vendor-neutral context and orchestration layer that builds knowledge graphs and ontologies and provides governance over data. Tera Harness is described as an open-source-based intelligent execution layer with skills specialized for enterprise data tasks, coordinating skills, tools, data and models without manual routing. Tera itself is positioned to support analysts and data and platform engineers.

Teradata said that in a public benchmark comparing two agents on the same base model, Tera completed tasks at lower cost and in less time than Claude Code, with equal or higher accuracy. The company also offers Teradata AI Studio for enterprises building AI agents.

Korea plans

Josh Abbott, Teradata's vice president for Asia-Pacific and Japan, said the company plans to significantly increase investment in its Korean subsidiary, expanding technical support staff and its partner network. In an interview with Korean reporters on October 14, he described Teradata as entering a "Teradata 3.0" era beyond data warehousing.

Teradata cited its "Arrested Automation" report, which found that 90% of companies plan to expand agentic AI investment while 77% say 20% or less of their data is ready for agents. The same study, published earlier, found that 80% of companies see agentic AI as a competitiveness opportunity and 78% struggle to integrate data and knowledge across the business.
