Unity unveils Spark, browser-based AI game creation tool

Unity Spark will launch in beta later this year on Google Playground and is limited to users aged 18 and over, according to gamesindustry.biz.

Unity has announced Unity Spark, a browser-based platform for creating games with AI, which will launch in beta later this year. The tool is hosted on Google's Playground platform, according to gamesindustry.biz.

Spark is designed to let users build and iterate on 3D games through text prompts without downloading software. It connects to the Unity Asset Store and suggests assets based on those prompts. Multiple users can collaborate on the same project by sharing a link, and finished projects can be published on Google Playground.

The Unity Spark editor runs only in desktop browsers, while games made with it can be played in both desktop and mobile browsers. At launch, projects cannot be downloaded, exported to desktop Unity, or sold. Spark will use a credit-based payment system tied to AI tokens, with pricing details not yet finalized.

Both Unity Spark and Google Playground are limited to users aged 18 and over.

Google's Playground platform launched today for generating games from natural language prompts.

Earlier Unity AI work

In May, Unity launched an open beta for several generative AI tools, including a "Plan" mode and "Skills." In August, CEO Matt Bromberg credited company revenue growth to Unity Vector AI. Unity 7 is scheduled to launch in Q1 2027 with AI tools as a core component.
