Vurt Brings Vertical Microdramas to Apple TV and Android TV

Vurt launched dedicated Apple TV and Android TV apps with 3,500 episodes across more than 100 shows, expanding beyond mobile.

Vurt launched dedicated apps for Apple TV and Android TV, giving viewers access to 3,500 episodes across more than 100 vertical shows. The move takes the microdrama platform beyond mobile casting, according to The Verge.

Vurt's userbase has grown from 10,000 users at launch in March to 675,000 users, the company said. The platform monetizes its content through ad partnerships, so viewers can watch for free.

On the content side, Vurt signs licensing agreements with production studios and creators under a 50/50 revenue split. Independent creators can also submit projects for distribution on the platform.

Vurt said it is developing original series and livestreamed sporting events.

Bigger screens, same short episodes

The TV apps follow a broader shift toward bringing short-form video to television interfaces. In June, Instagram beefed up its TV app to include Reels, disappearing Stories, and horizontally oriented videos.
