Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max Debut With 200MP Cameras, 8,500mAh Battery

Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, following Qualcomm's unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipsets. Both phones are already on sale in China, and Xiaomi confirmed the series will be available globally.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch display and runs on the Extreme version of the Snapdragon chip. It replaces its predecessor's 50MP 1/1.28-inch main sensor with a 200MP 1/1.28-inch sensor, and swaps a 50MP 5x/115mm periscope for a 200MP 3.2x/75mm module. The battery grows to 8,500mAh, 1,000mAh more than the previous model.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch display and uses the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. It packs a 7,000mAh battery, 700mAh more than its predecessor, and features two 200MP cameras: a 1/1.28-inch main and a 3.2x/75mm periscope. Both models include 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP selfie cameras.

Both phones have displays on their camera islands: 2.9 inches for the Pro Max and 2.7 inches for the Pro. Xiaomi added AI capabilities that can create apps to run on the rear displays.

Pricing in China starts at CNY 6,000 for the Xiaomi 18 Pro (12/256GB) and CNY 7,000 for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max (12/256GB). A Xiaomi India post mentioned only the Xiaomi 18 Pro, while the main post said the series is going global, according to gsmarena.com.
