Gege Akutami Signs Obi for Kuwahali's Girl Meets Rock!

The Jujutsu Kaisen creator wrote a playful exchange with character Rin Koyama instead of a standard endorsement for the Shonen Jump+ series.

Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, wrote the recommendation strip, or obi, celebrating Kuwahali's manga series Girl Meets Rock!, according to cbr.com. Rather than a conventional positive review, the obi presents a playful written exchange between Akutami and the character Rin Koyama.

Girl Meets Rock! is written by Kuwahali with illustrations by Tetsuo Ideuchi. Kuwahali released the debut chapter of the web manga in January 2023, and Shueisha acquired the series for its digital Shonen Jump+ platform in January 2024.

The 12th volume of Girl Meets Rock! was released on October 1, 2026, with a Japanese release date of October 2. Within the first six months of its release, the Shonen Jump+ version of the series sold over 100,000 copies and received a second reprint in June 2024.

Akutami's original Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded in September 2024. The Jujutsu Kaisen anime currently has three seasons, with Part 1 of Season 3 having aired from January 9, 2026, to March 27, 2026, and Part 2 scheduled to air sometime in 2027.
