TBS, Toei Animation and TV Tokyo invest US$6M in AniBiz

The anime licensing marketplace AniBiz, run by Nakama, says its database covers thousands of series and lists the three investors among its featured companies.

TBS, Toei Animation and TV Tokyo have invested US$6 million in AniBiz, the business-to-business marketplace for licensing anime intellectual property, according to animenewsnetwork.com. The three companies are already listed among the companies featured on the platform.

AniBiz states that its database covers thousands of anime series, positioning the service as a place where licensors and buyers can negotiate rights to anime titles.

The marketplace was launched by Nakama on July 2. Nakama's co-founder and president, Gao, told ANN in July that AniBiz expected to add more licensors over the coming months.

At launch, Gao said the platform's basic tier is free, a pro tier costs US$49 per month, and a third bespoke tier is also available. Nakama's founding team includes co-founder and CEO Brady McCollum and co-founder Sae Whan Song, who previously worked at Toei Animation, Crunchyroll and Viz Media.
