Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced that their animated series Avatar: Seven Havens will run for four seasons, according to Polygon. The co-creators made the announcement during a panel, where they also addressed fan claims that they hate Korra, the protagonist of The Legend of Korra.
DiMartino said the claim is untrue and called Korra one of his favorite characters. "The idea that we hate Korra is not true," he said, adding that she is one of his favorite characters.
Konietzko addressed a specific point of contention: Korra's loss of her connection to her past lives, which he said was caused by her uncle. He also noted that Aang's people were wiped out, drawing a comparison between the two Avatars' losses.
Konietzko attributed the different standard Korra is held to partly to misogyny and homophobia.
Separately, DiMartino is writing a graphic novel trilogy titled The Long Game about the history of the Red Lotus.
