Avatar: Seven Havens Creators Cite Moebius and Miyazaki

At New York Comic Con 2026, Bryan Konietzko and Ethan Spaulding named Arzach and Nausicaä as visual influences on the animated series.

The creators of Avatar: Seven Havens discussed the visual influences behind the animated series at New York Comic Con 2026, according to Polygon. Bryan Konietzko and Ethan Spaulding cited Moebius's Arzach and Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind as reference points for how the series looks.

Moebius was the pen name of French comic artist Jean Giraud, creator of Arzach. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is Miyazaki's anime film.

Twins, a ruined world and a contested legacy

Avatar: Seven Havens features twin Avatars, Pavi and Nisha, and is set in a post-apocalyptic world that includes the settlement of Ellora and the wasteland region known as the Harshlands.

The series takes place after the era of Korra, whose legacy is blamed in-universe for the world's ruin.

Avatar: Seven Havens is a new series that departs visually from The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.
