Blokees reveals $4.99 Volcanicus accessory kit for Dinobot model line
The Transformers Defender Version kit adds joints and plates to combine the five separately sold Dinobot figures into Volcanicus, with a January 2027 release planned.
Blokees has announced the Transformers Defender Version Volcanicus Combining Accessory Model Kit, a finishing set that lets builders combine the five Dinobot figures from its Defender Version line. The kit is available to pre-order through retailers including Entertainment Earth for $4.99, according to cbr.com, and is set to be released sometime in January 2027, with a more specific date yet to be confirmed.
The set contains just over 60 components: joints, connectors, shell pieces, backing plates and chest plates for the combined form. It also includes Volcanicus' swords, which are somewhat based on Grimlock's sword in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
The kit does not include any of the individual Dinobot figures. The five needed to build Volcanicus are sold separately: Swoop – Pteranodon (DV 08), Slag – Triceratops (DV 09), Grimlock – Tyrannosaurus Rex (DV 04/09), Snarl – Stegosaurus (DV 06) and Sludge – Brachiosaurus (DV 07).
Volcanicus, the combined form of the Dinobots, has a long history outside the original cartoon. In classic Generation 1 continuity the Dinobots never combined, unlike subgroups such as the Constructicons. The combined form appeared earlier in the comic Transformers: The Beast Within, where it was depicted as a violent monster and was widely criticized.
In 2017, Volcanicus first appeared in Transformers: Earth Wars, a more traditional take on a combined Dinobot form. According to the article, the Technobots were created by Grimlock when he briefly had super-intelligence.
