Chained Soldier Manga Goes on Hiatus Due to Artist's Poor Health
Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ says Chained Soldier will pause because artist Yōhei Takemura is unwell, with a return scheduled for November 14.
Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ announced on October 4, 2026 that the manga Chained Soldier is going on hiatus because of artist Yōhei Takemura's poor health, according to animenewsnetwork.com.
Takemura said in the announcement that they injured their right wrist in June, describing damage to the fibrocartilage. The artist has continued drawing while wearing a brace, but said the work puts heavy strain on the wrist, causing pain and slowing recovery.
Takemura has decided to stop work on the manga's drafts to give the wrist time to heal. Shonen Jump+ editorial staff said the series is scheduled to resume on November 14.
Future pace to be decided with Takahiro
The editorial staff said the manga's future release pace will be decided in consultation with writer Takahiro and Takemura, and based on medical advice.
Chained Soldier, written by Takahiro and drawn by Takemura, launched in 2021. Its first anime season premiered in Japan in January 2024, and HIDIVE streamed the season and an English dub. The second season premiered on January 8, 2026, with HIDIVE also streaming it and its English dub, and a third season is in the works.
