New Cyber Formula Anime Short Debuts February 2027
Bandai Namco Filmworks announced Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula ASURADA, a hand-drawn short sequel to Cyber Formula Sin, screening February 19, 2027.
Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a new anime short, Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula ASURADA. It will screen in Japan starting February 19, 2027, alongside a new HD remastered movie edition of Future GPX Cyber Formula: Early Days Renewal.
The short serves as a direct sequel to the 1998 anime Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin. Mitsuo Fukuda directs and writes the script, and also oversees the movie edition of Early Days Renewal.
Hirokazu Hisayuki handles character design, with Satoshi Shigeta as chief mechanical animation director. Shōji Kawamori designed the Cyber Machine Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G and the Hō・Ōga AA-1. Jun-ichi Kanemaru returns as Hayato Kazami, with Kotono Mitsuishi back as Asuka Sugo.
The production uses hand-drawn animation with no CG. The original Future GPX Cyber Formula television anime aired in Japan in 1991 and spawned four OVA sequels.
A new racing game, Future GPX Cyber Formula Spiral, is also in development with supervision by Fukuda. The announcement was reported by Anime News Network.
