Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 9 Reveals Donut's New Class: Vibe Coder

Donut's new class in Book 9 of Dungeon Crawler Carl is Vibe Coder, according to new chapters released on author Matt Dinniman's Patreon. The reveal comes in the latest batch of preview material for the book, which carries the working title The Beautiful Place.

The Vibe Coder class grants a level-10 spell called Opposite Day. It also includes an ability called Backdoor Access, which Mordecai says lets Donut tweak her existing spells for slightly different effects, with three slots available for modified spells. The class additionally comes with a mysterious personal assistant that the preview chapters do not explain.

Mordecai recommends Vibe Coder over the alternative class Nepo Baby, which carries a credit card that costs Charisma to use, and Donut follows his advice.

Dinniman has released the prologue, Chapters 1 through 5 and an interlude for Book 9 on Patreon so far.

How Donut's classes have changed

Donut began the series without a class. In Carl's Doomsday Scenario she chose Former Child Actor and Artist Alley Mogul, and the Former Child Actor class's Character Actor ability lets her select a new specialty on each subsequent floor. She went on to take Football Hooligan in The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook, Glass Cannon in The Gate of the Feral Gods, Legendary Diva in The Butcher's Masquerade, Viper Queen and Master Telephone Psychic in The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, Deathbed Hellcat plus Oak Fell in This Inevitable Ruin, and Assassin of Sekhmet and Elite Gurkha Warrior in A Parade of Horribles.

At the end of A Parade of Horribles, Carl and Donut survived the tenth floor's racing gauntlet and the eleventh floor's parade and arena showdown, and gained Scolopendra as a level-one crawler called Sexy Scolopendra. The first Dungeon Crawler Carl book was published by Penguin Random House on September 21, 2020.
