Ghibli Park extends A Night in the Valley of Witches run to June 2027
The 14-minute Studio Ghibli short keeps screening at the Cinema Orion Screening Room, with a Halloween after-hours event set for Oct. 31, 2026.
Ghibli Park has decided to extend the screening period for Studio Ghibli's short A Night in the Valley of Witches into 2027, according to cbr.com. The 14-minute film will continue showing at the Cinema Orion Screening Room inside the park's Grand Warehouse until around June 2027, though a specific end date has not yet been confirmed.
The short is co-directed by Goro Miyazaki and Akihiko Yamashita. It first began screening at the park on July 8, 2026, and marked Studio Ghibli's first anime production since The Boy and the Heron in 2023.
Ghibli Park also scheduled a special after-hours Halloween screening for elementary school students on Oct. 31, 2026 at 6 p.m. JST. The event will be followed by a tour of the Valley of Witches led by park staff.
Reservations for December 2026 screenings opened on Oct. 10, 2026 at 2 p.m. JST.
Rooted in Howl's Moving Castle
The short is tied to Howl's Moving Castle, Studio Ghibli's adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones' novel, released more than 20 years ago. In a recent interview, Goro Miyazaki said the trigger for the film may have been thinking it might be bad for the parked castle's health if it didn't move once in a while.
