Gundam Forward 08th MS Team 30th Anniversary Issue Released in English

Hobby Japan has released the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team 30th anniversary edition of its Gundam Forward magazine in English for international readers, according to cbr.com. The issue is built around the 1996 OVA series, which is marking three decades since its debut.

The special feature, titled "Next-Level Gunpla Realism," examines how an 18-meter mobile suit would hold up in real conditions. It presents case studies for space, jungle, desert and water environments, with notes on weathering, field repairs and details borrowed from modern tanks.

Anniversary roadmap and regular columns

The opening topic covers the Gundam 50th Anniversary Project, including the prologue film A Boy with Gundam and the roadmap toward 2029. The issue also carries the magazine's regular columns, among them Sayaka Mizuno's Mobile Sweets Introduction, Living a Laid-back Modeling Life and Gundam Figure Review, plus a look at the GGG Aina Sahalin (Snow Night Ver.) figure.

Model builders are served by professional builds of the Ground Type Gundam, Gundam Ez8, GM Ground Type, Gouf Custom, Zaku II, Acguy, Ball Type K and High Mobility Prototype Zaku.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team was released in 1996 by Sunrise and created by Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino. The original OVA ran for 11 episodes and was followed by the epilogue special The Last Resort, the 1998 anime feature film Miller's Report and the 2013 bonus OVA Battle in Three Dimensions. The Gundam 50th Anniversary Project was launched at Gundam Conference Spring 2026.
