Kadokawa Unveils Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen Manga Concept Art

Kadokawa on Wednesday revealed additional concept art and story details for its upcoming Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen manga. The publisher also shared concept art for Daredevil and Punisher, confirming that the lineup will consist of five different titles.

The Spider-Man manga is created by Tokitokoro and centers on Haruto Hachidori, a high schooler in Shibuya who gains spider powers. The Spider-Gwen manga, from creator Ryūsei Yamada, follows Gwen Stacy, a high school drummer who becomes Spider-Woman.

Both titles will debut on Kadokawa's KadoComi service before the end of the year. Kadokawa said the Japanese title for the Spider-Man manga is still to be determined.

Background

In July, Bleeding Cool reported that the Spider-Man manga would be titled Spider-Man of Shibuya. On July 1, Shueisha announced that its contract with Walt Disney Japan to publish manga adaptations of Marvel Comics characters would end on September 30. From September 28 to 30, Shueisha began removing five manga titles from digital storefronts and ceasing sales of physical volumes; all five have ended serialization. On July 16, Marvel Comics announced that Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski would become editor of 'Asia Originals' and Stephen Wacker would be the new Editor-in-Chief.
