Kishimoto's New Manga Naruto: Shadow Rising Revealed at New York Comic Con
Early glimpses of Naruto's redesigned look for the Blank Period appeared in an in-progress trailer shown at the event.
Masashi Kishimoto has a new manga titled Naruto: Shadow Rising, which was revealed at New York Comic Con, according to Screen Rant. The project covers the Blank Period of the Naruto franchise, and early glimpses of Naruto's Blank Period design were shown in a first in-progress trailer.
The redesign of Naruto most strongly resembles Kishimoto's designs from The Last: Naruto the Movie. In the revealed design, Naruto appears to keep a cropped hairstyle rather than shaggier hair, and a panel shows him with the Hokage hat in more detail.
Kishimoto is fully behind each page of the new project rather than acting as a supervisor, marking a change from his role on other franchise works.
Background
Kishimoto's earlier series Samurai 8 concluded in 2020, and he recently produced a limited one-shot focused on Minato Namikaze. He also illustrated the Naruto Hiden novel series, while Boruto content has featured Naruto to a certain degree over the years.
