Toei Unveils Kamen Rider Animation and Premium Labels
Toei President and CEO Yoshimura Fumio revealed the two initiatives at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest, including plans for standalone films.
Toei is launching two new initiatives for its Kamen Rider franchise: a label called Kamen Rider Animation to bring Kamen Rider-themed anime to audiences worldwide, and Kamen Rider Premium to produce standalone movies not connected to the ongoing Kamen Rider TV series. The company's President and CEO, Yoshimura Fumio, revealed the plans at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest, according to Den of Geek.
Toei also intends to use generative AI in its film and video production, the company said. The announcement did not specify titles, release dates, or platforms for either label.
The move comes as Toei has recently announced intentions to bring more Kamen Rider projects to America, and current Kamen Rider series are being broadcast simultaneously in the U.S. and Japan. A Kamen Rider Zero-One/Batman crossover is also upcoming.
Kamen Rider's U.S. push
Over Halloween weekend 2026, L.A. Comic Con hosted an official Kamen Rider booth and a panel on the franchise's 55th anniversary. An English screening of Agito: Psychic War was held at the event to mark Kamen Rider Agito's 25th anniversary.
Earlier English-language adaptations of the franchise had mixed results: Masked Rider, which adapted Kamen Rider Black RX, was a flop after trying to ride Power Rangers' popularity, and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight aired on the CW but flew under the radar due to poor marketing.
