Toyotarou Draws Garana, Manga-Only Dragon Ball Super Character
The Dragon Ball Super artist shared new Garana artwork and said the gorilla-like character is stronger than Shisami.
Dragon Ball Super manga artist Toyotarou has released new artwork of Garana, a character who appears only in the manga, as part of his "Toyotarou Tries to Draw" series. The drawing was accompanied by a statement from Toyotarou about the character, according to cbr.com.
Toyotarou said Garana is an original manga character he introduced after the Beerus arc, and that he made him a tough-looking gorilla stronger than Shisami. The Dragon Ball website's post on the artwork describes Toyotarou as the artist serializing Dragon Ball Super in V Jump.
Garana first appears in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 4, "God and God," at the end of the manga's first volume, where his ship finds a Super Dragon Ball in Universe 7 before Champa destroys it. On the page after Garana's death, Sorbet notes it is the final straw for the Frieza Force, inspiring him to revive Frieza and starting the Golden Frieza Saga.
The article suggests Garana could appear in the Golden Frieza Saga adaptation of the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus anime remake. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is already halfway through the God of Destruction Beerus Saga.
Toyotarou's artwork series has also featured other characters: in July he drew the Mogina Warrior, and in September he returned with Geppuman, a petty criminal caught by Jaco in DBS Episode 31. Each issue of V Jump since August has stated that the Dragon Ball Super manga is on hiatus, which has lasted two years.
