Snake voice actor Akio Otsuka backs new Metal Gear Solid without Kojima

Akio Otsuka, the Japanese voice of Snake, says Konami should make another Metal Gear Solid even though Hideo Kojima is no longer involved.

Akio Otsuka, the Japanese voice of Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, said in an interview that Konami should release a new Metal Gear Solid game even without Hideo Kojima's involvement, according to gamesradar.com.

Otsuka said he had changed his earlier position on returning to the role without Kojima. He attributed the shift to the pride he feels from having worked with the creator, and said Metal Gear fans around the world have waited patiently, urging: "let's make one more Metal Gear" for their sake.

He also noted that Kojima is busy making his own games, including Death Stranding, and said it is okay for Konami to proceed on its own. Kojima is working on Physint, which Otsuka described as his own Metal Gear spiritual successor.

Years of voicing Snake

Otsuka has voiced Solid and Naked Snake, as well as Solidus Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2 and Venom Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5. The only time he did not play Snake was Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 4, a role taken by his father, Chikao Otsuka.
