Aonuma: Young Staff Led Ocarina of Time Remake on Switch 2

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said some team members had never played the original before working on the full remake, due out November 5, 2026.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma said the full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being made by young staff, including some who never played the original, in an interview published by AFP and 20minutes.

Aonuma said the remake exists thanks to those younger developers, who considered how best to arrange the game and how to make it fun to play, according to the interview.

The remake is scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Aonuma said the project has also become personally special to him because the young staff brought new interpretations to it.

He added that he is looking forward to what young people envision for the next game and is happy to advise them on thinking it through together.
